Give the gift of MSI for the Holidays!

Still looking for Holiday gifts?  With Summer Marine Camp registration around the corner, this is the perfect time to give the gift of membership! MSI's Family Membership Program is an opportunity to get out in nature as a family with the expert guidance of MSI docents. It is the cure for what has come to be labeled as "nature deficit-disorder." Touching a shark, seeing the magnified world of plankton, working the nets and catching a bat ray aboard the Robert G. Brownlee, and seeing whales on the Pacific Ocean...  these are life-altering and enriching experiences.  We are fortunate to live in the San Francisco Bay area, and there is much we still need to learn about how our environment has changed, continues to change, and what we can do to help protect it.

MSI Members can sign up for priority Summer Marine Camp registration beginning February 1st, while general registration begins February 17th.  Given the popularity of our camps (they do fill fast!), this is a great benefit that helps MSI grow and comes with lots of other great perks for your family!

Membership with MSI provides a year's worth of memorable outdoor education adventures for your entire family, and costs only $100.  Come face to face with sharks, dive into the amazing world of plankton, venture across San Francisco Bay aboard the Robert G. Brownlee, or join us for any number of our other special events.  Members also receive 10% off all MSI merchandise, including our educational Birthday programs.

As a special bonus, we are very proud to present all new & renewing members with our brand new, tenth volume of Translating the Tides - our annual poetry and art contest.  From over a thousand entries sent in by students who have enjoyed our educational programs, we have chosen the best to show off in a beautiful 2010 calendar.  Printed on 100% recycled paper and complete with tidal information and many fun MSI events, this is a great way to remember how precious our environment is every day! Preview the calendar on-line here!

If you believe you are too old to attend our camps, consider giving the gift of camp to others by contributing to our camp scholarship fund.  Every year, generous individuals make it possible for less privileged campers to enjoy the wonderful experiences MSI Summer Camp has to offer. Any amount helps! Click here to learn how.

MSI’s Summer Marine Camp is a marine biology based camp for students in Kindergarten through 12th grades. Our hands-on curricula is designed for children to explore and experience marine life faces-to-faces. Participants are based in Redwood City, but all campers head out on field trips aboard the Robert G. Brownlee, our 90' Research Vessel. And depending on the specific camp, additional field trips are planned to amazing locations around our Coasts & Bays. Choose from a range of camps that are grade-specific and focus on different aspects of the marine environment. 15 campers enjoy the individual attention of 3 Marine Camp staff members. Priority registration opens February 1st, 2010 for MSI members.
