MARINE SCIENCE INSTITUTE
JOB ANNOUNCEMENT
Marine Science Institute is a non-profit science and environmental education organization offering hands-on programs that excite and enlighten students about science. We are seeking a qualified Ship Program Coordinator to work with existing staff to supervise the ship programs. MSI is located in Redwood City, CA on the San Francisco Bay.
This is a full-time, salaried position with benefits based on a 40-hour work week. The position begins September, 2003 and ends June 30, 2004.
Position Responsibilities:
Working with the support of
the Program Manager the Ship Program Coordinator will:
v Hire and manage the training of all Science Instructors;
v Coordinate staff, curricula, and logistics of all ship-based programs;
v Evaluate and refine ship-based programs;
v Maintain educational equipment;
v Assist in teacher training and curriculum development.
Qualifications:
v College degree in marine
science, biology, education or related field;
v Administrative experience with exceptional communication and interpersonal
skills;
v Proficiency in PC-based Windows, Excel, Word, Access, PowerPoint,
and Macromedia;
v Ability to organize, prioritize, and efficiently complete varied tasks;
v Excellent writing and proofreading skills;
v Ability to attend to detail, meet deadlines, and work with a high
degree of accuracy;
v Flexible, creative team member with leadership skills;
v Knowledge of Spanish is a plus;
v Ability to work some evenings and weekend days;
v Reliable transportation;
v Ability to see projects through to the end;
v Possess current CPR and First Aid certification.
