Afternoon Ecology is an afterschool educational program designed to foster the natural curiosity of young minds. Students learn about local habitats around the San Francisco Bay while working in a team with their peers. Over the course of each session, students will use real scientific equipment to catch animals and collect data in a fun and exciting way. The Marine Science Institute offers three sessions during the year (Fall, Winter, and Spring), each with a unique theme. These sessions may be taken independently, or as part of a year-long educational series.

Advanced Ecology is a newly designed afternoon program tailored to students who have previous experience with marine science. Students will work cooperatively in a team to use scientific equipment and interact with live animals. This program has three sessions that can be taken either as a series or independently. Advanced Ecology focuses on higher concepts such as Watersheds (fall), Biomimicry (winter), and Scientific Inquiry (spring).  Each session combines learning on-site at MSI and a field trip. These sessions may be taken independently, or as a part of a year-long educational series.
