Program Description: Marine Science Institute offers a fast-paced, knowledge-packed camp experience. Camp introduces children to the wonders of our amazing marine environment through a variety of fun-filled, hands-on activities, themed crafts, games, songs & stories. Campers ages 5-13 explore different groups of animals and marine habitats throughout the week. We take our campers on field trips around the Bay, including trips aboard our 90-foot research vessel, and spend time at our Redwood City teaching facility with aquariums & classrooms.
Internship Description: The Marine Science Camp Volunteer Supervisor oversees the daily activities of Marine Science Camp volunteers in addition to participating in camp activities. Responsibilities include but are not limited to the check in/check out of volunteers and campers, passing out schedules and making possible last minute changes, delegating and checking volunteer duties, passing out and collecting name tags, camper list consolidations and reporting to the Community Outreach Coordinator and Marine Science Camp Manager. The Volunteer Supervisor is a leader that enjoys coordinating groups of people, and who can maintain a positive and fun attitude.
Commitment: 9 weeks, 6-9 hours a day
Requirements: minimum age requirement is 17, reliable transportation, cell phone.
This is a leadership role and requires a high level of maturity, verbal skills, and team work. Good communication skills, problem solving and quick thinking are essential.
