Marine Science Camp - 2020 Sessions and Dates
Marine Science Institute is excited and happy to announce the 2020 Marine Science Camp dates! Week-long sessions are available for entering K-12th graders June 15-August 14. All sessions run Monday through Friday. Join us this summer to celebrate Marine Science Institute’s 50th anniversary with new field trips, activities, fun and friends!
Registration opens for MSI Members Thursday January 9 at 8:00 am (click here to become a Member and sign up for camp before the rush). Registration opens to the public Monday February 3 at 8:00 am.

Plankton Pioneers (entering grades K-1st):
Introduces campers to different aspects of marine science. Each day at our site is themed with hands-on activities, animal touching and a fun craft that is related to the theme of the day. During one camp day, campers are true marine biologists aboard our research vessel and practice animal collecting from the Bay! Click here for more information.

Wetland Explorers (entering grades 2nd-5th):
This camp focuses on the San Francisco Bay estuary’s animals and habitats including marshes, sloughs and mudflats. Campers will discover the science and creatures of their own backyards through hands-on activities and interactions with live animals. Campers journey to beautiful habitats around the Bay on field trips and a voyage aboard our ship. Click here for more information.

Ocean Explorers (entering grades 2nd-5th):
Ocean Explorers discuss coastal California and the world’s ocean. Hands-on activities put campers in contact with live animals and science in action. Field trips to the coast and aboard our research vessel allow them to investigate ocean habitats. Click here for more information.

Naturalists (returning campers entering grades 4th-5th):
Campers who have previously attended Ocean Explorers or Wetland Explorers & are ready to dive a little deeper will enjoy this fast-paced camp. Campers will learn how to be naturalists and have fun studying marine science research methods in both the wetland and oceanic habitats. Exciting field trips and a trip on our research vessel take students behind the scenes as marine biologists. Click here for more information.

Underwater Investigators (entering grades 6th-8th):
Learn about marine ecology, science technology and research methods! Campers will canoe through local sloughs and have a two-day adventure aboard the research vessel. Our middle school age camp even has an overnight aboard the ship! Click here for more information.

Project Discovery (entering 9th-12th grades):
Geared toward high school students who want to study marine biology in the field. They have an action-packed week starting with animal sampling and data collection aboard the Research Vessel, followed by 4 days of exploration along the coastline near Half Moon Bay. Click here for more information.
