Marine Camp Management Assistant Job Announcement
Camp Administrative and Educational | 40 hours | Dates May 19, 2026 to August 21, 2026
The Marine Science Institute is a non-profit science and environmental education organization offering hands-on programs that excite and enlighten students about science. We are seeking a qualified Marine Camp Management Assistant for our summer camp. MSI is located in Redwood City, CA on the San Francisco Bay. This is a seasonal position(May 19, 2026 – August 21, 2026) that reports to the Head of the Program Department. Marine Science Camp Management Assistant would work directly with the Marine Camp Director to manage logistics of a large-scale camp. Salary: $28-30/hour depending on experience. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Primary Position Responsibilities:

Assisting in prep and staff training
-
Co-manage all Marine Science Camp volunteers.

Assist with Inventory (weeks before, during, and week after camp ends)

Provide an enthusiastic and supportive environment for Camp Instructors, Counselors, & Volunteers by conducting regular meetings, helping organize 2-3 staff events, and being a positive role model.

Manage photos- Keep track of camp cameras, photo uploads, and photo culling

Checking in with groups

Making sure the stations are set up and cleaned up properly

Assist with check in and check out

Set aside group merchandise purchases and give them to instructors

Create and manage daily schedules for staff

Support Communication efforts- Camp Daily Digest, etc.

Teach MSI’s programs as needed.

Other work as needed
Qualifications:
-
BA or BS in marine science, biology, education or related field.

Prior outdoor or environmental education instruction as well as experience in staff supervision.

Solid computer skills; familiarity with Office Suite and customer relationship management (CRM) software

Familiarity with best practices in child/adolescent development and behavior management.

Current drivers license, reliable transportation.

Meticulous organization, attention to detail, and ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and work with a high degree of accuracy.

Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills including public speaking, writing and proofreading ability.

Possess current CPR and First Aid certification.
