Teambuilding Voyage

Work with our crew to do a variety of marine research techniques, all of which take cooperation, communication, and in some cases lots of enthusiasm. Our educators and facilitators will work with your group to build trust and camaraderie in an exciting and dynamic environment. Breakout spaces on our 90’ vessel provide a unique setting to learn about nature and build relationships among your team.

Research Voyage

During the Research Voyage your group will have the opportunity to help our staff collect data about the fish and other organisms that live in the bay. This service program will have your group working along-side the crew measuring and recording size and type of fish you will help catch  The information your group helps collect will become part of the Institute’s fish data program which has been recording the fluctuation of the bay’s  elements for over three decades.

Voyage Highlights

Deploy a net to catch a sample of fish from the Bay.

See and touch a leopard shark and dozens of other species from the bay such as a bat ray, jellies, starry flounder and more while they swim in our onboard tanks.

Bring up a sample of mud from the bottom of the Bay, and examine what interesting invertebrates inhabit the bay floor.

Peek into the world of plankton, made large with our shipboard microscopes hooked up to large flat screens.

Meet our captain and even steer the ship!

Our hands-on activities have a way of bringing groups together to see, learn, and understand the complexity of the San Francisco Bay Estuary. This voyage of discovery is sure to create memories that will last for a lifetime.
