Board Updates - Welcome: A BayLines Original Article

My passion for marine science and environmental conservation started at a young age with Marine Science Institute's summer marine camps! I loved exploring the tide pools, learning about the wetlands, and catching fish and benthic creatures on marine voyages. My experiences as a camper, volunteer and camp counselor instilled in me an appreciation for science and our Bay that I carried with me throughout my career. After college, I joined Teach for America and spent two years teaching ninth-grade earth science in Washington, D.C., where my studied the impact of human activities on the water quality of the Anacostia and Potomac Rivers. I currently work in project management at Genentech and have participated in their mentorship program of third-fifth graders in South San Francisco for the past four years.

I am very excited to join the Marine Science Institute's Board of Directors to foster the next generation of stewards of our Bay and environment and to help students develop the same love of science I gained from MSI's programs.
