Creature Feature: East Coast Fish Calls California Home

In ten short years after being introduced to California in 1879, this East Coast fish -- the

striped bass -- has established itself in the state’s waterways and as a favorite in the sport-fishing world. Living in salt water, brackish water and fresh water it has adapted to a variety of habitats. It can be found from the Pacific Ocean to the San Francisco Bay and Delta and up the Sacramento and San Joaquin Rivers at different times of year.
