Internship Description: Marine Science Camp Jr. Volunteers assist instructors and counselors in the many facets of running a successful program. This includes, but is not limited to, setting up and breaking down stations, helping with check in/check out of campers, assisting with animal care, participating in arts and crafts, joining in (and possibly leading) songs and games, and general classroom management. Camp volunteers enjoy joining campers in learning, going on field trips, and making friends. Above all, they are role models and companions for our young campers.

The Jr. Volunteer position focuses on how to be a positive role model while working in small groups with young children. Through hands-on training and experiences Jr. Volunteers learn real world skills to assist them in future employment opportunities.

Jr. Volunteers are evaluated weekly.  Performance appraisals include a team assessment evaluation, discussion of strengths and weaknesses and creating performance goals with each Jr. Volunteer.

Jr. Volunteers are directly supervised by the Community Outreach Coordinator, Marine Camp Manager, and Camp Instructors and Counselors.

Jr. Volunteers will be placed in our k-1 Plankton Pioneer Camps and will be paired up with seasoned volunteers to allow for an apprentice style approach to leadership.
